Delaware is ranked 49th in 50 states in the USA with an area of 5,294 sq. Km. The state was founded on the Delmerva peninsula in the area between the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Most of the state of Delaware is on the Atlantic Ocean coastline. The state of Delaware has an area of 45 km² along this coastline. The northern boundary of the state was founded on the skirts of the region known as the Piedmont plateau. The Delaware River and the Christine River are important rivers of the province. Delaware’s largest cities are Wilmington, Newark and the capital, Dover. The population of the province is around 670,000.
